Seasonal Home Care Checklist for Summer, Monsoon and Winter Shifts

Homes react to seasons just like we do. A simple seasonal checklist keeps things comfortable and prevents surprise repairs.

Before summer, clean AC filters, service units, and check ceiling fans for wobbling or noise. Light-coloured curtains or sun-blocking blinds in west-facing rooms help control heat. It’s also a good time to check the terrace and roof for cracks before intense sun bakes them.

Before monsoon, inspect window seals, balcony doors and any previous damp spots. Clear terrace and balcony drains of leaves and debris. If your building has had waterlogging issues, nudge the society to clean common lines. Keep a basic emergency kit—flashlight, candles, extension board—within reach.

Before winter (where it applies), air out rarely used quilts, blankets and winter clothes. Check geysers for proper functioning and any leaks. If you have older metal windows, draft stoppers help keep cold air out.

Across all seasons, test basic safety items—gas connections, extension cords, surge protectors. A few routine checks done three times a year can save you from a lot of “why is this happening now?” stress.
