Choosing the Right Tap and Mixer Designs for Different Areas of the House

Taps and mixers aren’t just about looks; picking the right design for each area makes daily use smoother.

In the kitchen, a tall spout or pull-out spray mixer is very useful. It lets you fill big pots and wash large dishes without struggling. Single-lever mixers are convenient for quickly adjusting temperature with one hand.

For bathroom washbasins, think about bowl depth and splash. Very high, strong-flow taps on shallow basins cause water to splash everywhere. A medium-height tap with an aerated flow usually feels better.

In showers, diverter mixers (for overhead + hand shower) give flexibility, but keep controls intuitive. Thermostatic mixers cost more but maintain water temperature, which is great if your supply fluctuates.

For utility areas, simple, sturdy bib taps with threaded outlets work well—so you can attach hoses or washing machine pipes easily.

Also consider quality and service availability. A fancy, no-name tap that can’t be repaired or whose cartridge isn’t easily available will be annoying long-term. Simple, reliable, and well-installed usually wins.
